Dr. Sara Baumann
GLOWHER Collective Creative Director and Principal Investigator
Sara is from northern Michigan, and is the director of the GLOWHER collective! She is a global health, mixed methods researcher and is passionate about participatory, arts-based, and visual research methods; women’s and adolescent reproductive health; and mental health. She has over 14 years of experience conducting research and programming in health and development in South Asia (she has lived in 8 different countries!), with a current focus on Nepal. She completed her undergraduate studies in Sociology of Health and Aging, with a minor in Peace and Social Justice at the University of Michigan. After undergrad, she completed a Fulbright Fellowship to explore transgender healthcare access in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and completed her MPH at ICDDR,B, the world’s top cholera hospital and leading research institution. She conducted her PhD training here at Pitt in BCHS under a Boren Fellowship, focused on menstrual health in Nepal and film methods. Sara is thrilled to be able to continue her research and mentorship journey here at Pitt as a faculty member. Sara loves traveling, yoga, making art, spending time outdoors, meditation, and reading… and dreams of bringing her son Leonardo on her next research trip to Nepal!
Social Network Analysis Research Associate
Originally from Okemos, Michigan, Aubree is a doctoral student in the Behavioral and Community Health Sciences Department at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health. Prior to joining Pitt Public Health, she earned her bachelors from the University of Michigan School of Public Health and her masters from the Boston University School of Public Health. Following seven years in clinical research, Aubree is excited to shift to her passion of social sciences research focused in sexual and reproductive health, adolescent health, and school-based health education. In the future, Aubree hopes to be a professor of public health. In her free time, Aubree enjoys reading, taking spin classes, and checking out farmers markets!

Undergraduate Researcher and Digital Content Director
Madeline Soule is a Public Health undergraduate student at the University of Pittsburgh with certificates in Health Humanities, Conceptual Foundations of Medicine, and Bioethics with an Honors College Distinction graduating in 2028. Joining the lab in April of 2025, Maddie quickly found her place directing the digital side of content including Instagram, LinkedIn, and WordPress and jumping into the CAPTURE project. In addition to GLOWHER Collective, Maddie serves as a peer advisor on the Youth Research Advisory Board for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Maddie plans on going to PA school and becoming an OBGYN PA, focusing on public health in women’s and geriatric medicine. In her free time, Maddie loves exploring Pittsburgh and finding new coffee shops, working as a Med Tech in an assisted living facility, and hanging out with friends.
Madeline Soule
Development Practitioner and Researcher
Hannah Schwarz, originally from Boise, Idaho, is deeply committed to working alongside communities to define problems and design solutions at the intersection of gender, identity, and sexual reproductive health. Hannah has over six years’ experience working in the international development sector and three years’ experience designing and implementing programs in Nepal. She is a PhD student in Behavioral and Community Health Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health, and aims to advance her skills in community-based participatory research and program design. Prior to graduate study, Hannah worked at The Asia Foundation in Washington DC where she oversaw reporting for six USAID-funded projects and contributed to the Women’s Advancement and Leadership in STEM portfolio. She previously served in the Peace Corps in Nepal, during which she founded the Menstrual Health and Management Program. Hannah holds a Master of Professional Studies in Global Development from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Women’s and Gender Studies from Willamette University.

Visionary Architect & Strategic Storyteller
Erricka Hager, a native Pittsburgher and a Ph.D. student in the Department of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences in the School of Public Health. Her research focuses on Black perinatal health disparities, intergenerational family health communication via storytelling, and achieving health equity via community engagement and research translation. Currently, she works with the Pregnancy Collaborative cohort of the Pittsburgh Study to improve the health of Pittsburgh’s birthing people through the alignment of community, research, and training priorities. In addition, she is working on a concept analysis to define maternal thriving. When she is not challenging systems of oppression, you can find her in one of three spaces: in the stands cheering for her children – Dhani and Harper, on the couch reading a book, or in her vegetable garden.
Erricka Hager

Annika Agarwal hails from Marlboro, New Jersey and graduated from Pitt with a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology. She spent the last year in India on a Fulbright research scholarship. Working with slum residents in Mumbai, Annika brought Collaborative Filmmaking to India for the first time, to explore menstrual waste disposal. She is currently attending medical school at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and wants to pursue a career in global women’s health. Annika is also involved in the GLOWHER palliative care Collaborative Filmmaking project with mothers from across Pennsylvania. In her free time, Annika enjoys cooking, biking, and hiking!

GLOWHER Collective Lab Operations Manager (2026-2027)
Annabella Lapi is an undergraduate student in the School of Public Health, enrolled in the accelerated MPH program in Epidemiology, while also pursuing a minor in Chemistry and a Certificate in Global Health. Her academic and research interests center on global reproductive health and developing creative interventions at the intersection of community-based and clinical health initiatives. Bella serves as the Lab Manager and a research assistant for the GLOWHER Collective, where she is currently involved in projects examining the social networks and mental health implications of Chhaupadi among woman in Nepal . She is excited to continue growing with GLOWHER by expanding her experience in mixed-methods research, learning from her peers, and contributing to innovative approaches in public health. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and exploring new cafés with friends.
Annabella Lapi
Creative Methods and Photography Media Assistant
Lindsey Palmer (she/her) is a visual artist, photography professor, and public health researcher. She holds an MFA in Photography and Related Media (2019) and a Master of Public Health in Behavioral and Community Health Sciences (2026). Her background spans visual imaging and storytelling, collegiate photographic education, community-based art education, clinical imaging, creative facilitation, program evaluation, research facilitation, and project coordination — including budget management and report writing. She has a deep passion for youth and adolescent mental health, wellness, and equity. While she continues to teach photography, she is increasingly focused on how collaborative, arts-driven methods can help surface youth voices and spark systems change within the world of public health.
